A

Prepare for Take Off

Prepare for Take Off is compulsory for all Young Leaders. This module covers key areas which every Young Leader will need to know:

  • The Purpose and Method of the Scout Association
  • Child Protection
  • Policy, Organisation & Rules
  • Activity Rules and Safety
  • Understanding the Role of the Young Leader

Taking the Lead

In Taking the Lead the Young Leader will learn about leadership styles, when to use particular leadership styles and the role of the Leader.

That’s the way to do it

In That’s the way to do it Young Leaders will explore different ways of instructing younger members in a Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack or Scout Troop.

Kids behaving badly

In Kids behaving badly, the Young Leader will learn how to deal with difficult situations in their Section and the possible causes of bad behaviour.

Game on

Game on aims to each Young Leaders the importance of using games as a programme tool in their Section. It illustrates different types of games, and shows how they can be appropriate to different circumstances and times.

Special People

In Special People, Young Leaders learn to identify the Special Needs of Members in their Section. After this module, they will understand the importance of making adjustments in their programmes to take these needs into account.

Programme Plans &

Programme Plans Plus

Modules G and H tackles an important area of Section Leadership – programme planning. The focus of these modules is looking at the concept of the Balanced Programme. Young Leaders will initially plan a Section meeting. They will then look at more long-term programme planning issues.

What did they say?

In all Sections, input from the Members is crucial to success. What did they say? Explores another important leadership function – how to communicate effectively with young people, and how to listen to them.

J

Awards & Badges

Module J looks at all of the Awards and badges that are available in the three younger Sections. The Young Leader will learn how each of these Awards can complement the Balanced Programme and offer challenge and adventure to Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts.

K

First Aid Course

Module K is a certificated First Aid Course, which lasts 1 day and covers all the first aid essentials, which will be necessary for Young Leaders working in any Section for both indoor and outdoor activities.
